Locals arrested four people while snatching an autorickshaw from a bus stand in Kheter Para of Louhjong upazila of Munshiganj. Then they were handed over to the police. The incident took place at the bus stand on the Mawa-Baligaon road on Wednesday evening.
According to police sources, a four-member group of snatchers from Kuchiamora on the Dhaka-Mawa highway agreed to rent a battery-powered car. After knocking the auto driver unconscious with intoxicating food anywhere on the road, they drove the car to Mawa and proceeded towards Baligaon Bazar.
As there was not much crowd at the place called Jorpool of the road and it was quiet, he pushed the auto driver out of the car and drove the car, he saw a CNG in the back. When the CNG driver rushed to the bus stand and informed the people, they grabbed the car and challenged him. When they wanted to run away, the locals arrested them and informed the Louhjong police station. The four snatchers are Brishti Akhter of Charghona Para village of Lohagarh police station of Narail district, Nazma Akhter of Golkhali village of Galachipa police station of Patuakhali district, Mohammad of Hamidpur village of Charfason police station of Bhola. Anwar Hossain and Sagar Islam of Cedarchar village under Jajira police station in Shariatpur district. A case has been filed under the Speedy Trial Act at Louhjong police station in this regard.

This hijacking ring is very active. According to the plan, they sometimes kill the drivers of these vehicles by taking intoxicating food and sometimes they hijack the car.
